Laurel Scanlon has inherited the curse of sight, a maddening skill passed through matriarchal lines to the next generation’s eldest female. Her father refuses to believe in this paranormal skill so the so-called gift sent her mother off the deep end as he really was not there for her or for that matter Laurel. To keep herself sane, Laurel avoids love, as she fears the outcome.
Laurel inherits from her maternal grandmother Mimosa Grove, an aging estate near Bayou Jean, Louisiana. Seeing Mimosa Grove as a place to escape from the world, Laurel moves to the isolated somewhat run down estate. However, she fails to find peace here as she senses the tragic past, but fears her present and future more. The townsfolk know the skills of a female Scanlon especially when Laurel finds a missing child using her gift. However, Laurel is shook to her core when she realizes that the child’s uncle Justin Bouvier is her soul mate at least in her dreams if she dares to reach out for love even as someone stalks her with obviously bad intentions in mind for her.
This exciting paranormal romantic suspense stars a terrific lead protagonist who struggles between desire and fear of love. The story line is loaded with non-stop action, in some ways too much as the plot meanders with unnecessary twists. Because most of the audience fails to share Laurel’s gift, fans will remain visiting MIMOSA GROVE until the end to see who stalks the heroine and whether Justin can overcome her relationship phobia.
