“You have to help me,” was Eleanor Moorehouse’s plea to Cassandra Masters when she turned up unexpectedly at Cassandra’s home. Eleanor Moorehouse is the widow of Dr. Paul Morehouse a well-known physician. But how did she find her way to Cassandra’s house? Cassandra is a widow with a small child. She does run a private detective agency but she keeps her residence address very private. As she tries to discourage Eleanor and send her on her way Eleanor pulls out an old yearbook and shows Cassandra that she attended school with Cassandra’s deceased husband.
Finally Cassandra agrees to help Eleanor locate her husband’s murderer. David Johnson, Cassandra’s neighbor and close friend is drawn into the investigation. Cassandra eventually discovers that Dr. Morehouse is engaged in a blackmail scheme.
Laura McClendon introduces some interesting characters, which you will enjoy. Cassandra also employs some unusual tactics to catch her murderer.
