Iain McDowall obviously does not care if I get any sleep. In fact, I think he does this on purpose. He writes a book that is so compelling that there is no such thing as “I’ll just start it tonight and read the rest tomorrow”. But I’m eally not complaining, giving up some sleep in return for a great read is a fair trade in my world.

Perfectly Dead is the third installment in Iain’s series that take place in Crowby. Kerr and Jacobson lead us through the books, allowing us to be the proverbial fly on the wall. This time out the book opens with the murder of a man that has ties to a case the drug squad is working on. And teaming up with the drug guys for a case is not on Jacobson’s list of favorite things. Though out the book more and more threads appear, all of them seemingly tangling together. But by the end McDowall has weave a tapestry that is both intricate and tight. And of course, as is usually the case with what I enjoy, the characters are wonderful.

So if Iain keeps writing like this, I will be willing to give up sleep to read them. A job well done.
