Liath has passed her final challenge to become an Illuminator and a true mage, but on that very night, after passing, her light fails and she finds herself blocked, despite the badge she wears. After so many years of training, Liath refuses to believe that she must remain forever blocked, and she leaves in the middle of the night to journey to find the Ennead and beg for their help in unblocking her mage-light.

The Ennead sets her a task before they will consider helping her. She must find the Dark Mage and bring them a part of him, that they may bring him to justice. So begins Liath's quest.

Illumination is a combination saga-quest-coming of age story, complex in its detailing. Terry McGarry has penned a new vision of magic that requires a triad to be successful. Cooperation is the key, here. Its also the tale of mages gone corrupt and a world in peril. Liath's journey to find the Dark Mage, free her light, and find the truth about her world is repleat with word pictures that will keep you involved and guessing. And thank heavens, there is a MAP! By all means, take the journey to Eiden Myr!
