Ghostwriter Lee Bartholomew has arrived in Long Island with two goals in mind. First she will witness her mother and the man Lee calls Œthe Phillionaireš in a commitment ceremony - a not-quite wedding . After all, her mother is still married to Leešs father.

Secondly she is angling for a job writing the story of an aging rock star. Her rival Bettina thinks the job is hers, until her body is found in a nearby woods. The son of the rock star has died as well. Lee is offered the job and decides to take it, in spite of the seeming danger of being in the rock staršs proximity.

McIntyre writes interesting characters, and does a good job with setting. The plot holds the readers interest through most of the story although I found the ending a bit melodramatic. My biggest complaint here is a lack of research regarding the murder weapons. The authoršs lack of familiarity with weapons is very clear and a mistake a serious writer should not make.
