This is the second Lucy Stone mystery I have experienced , though its the 6th in the series. This year Lucy hosts the annual Christmas Cookie exchange. I found it a rather close to real life experience with old timers trying to recruit "new to the community" people, petty politics and a dangerously backed up upstairs toilet accidentally flushed by one of the kids which results in the ceiling crashing down on all those Christmas cookies. However the mystery involves one of the guests, a day care worker, who is found dead the next day, As usual Meier waves the clues/theme right under the readers nose but I didn't think it took away from the story and dealt with a contemporary issue from a multi-sided perspective while weaving a charming story of community and family life in small town Maine. I like the Stone family even more after this second visit to Tinker's Cove.
