Lucy Stone shows up to attend her first meeting as a member of the Board of Directors of the library and finds the librarian dead, therefore in this story she at least has an excuse for all her sleuthing.

Meier has developed more skill in putting Lucy and her loved ones in jeopardy. At least I didn't see the disasters coming a mile away as I have in some other books of the series and the underlying theme was less blatant than in some others. I really enjoyed the family life portrayed in this one, the homemade Valentines, the cupcake baking, story time at the library all brought back pleasant memories of being a Mommy.

And the plot was pretty darn good too. Meier is growing as a writer.
