Picoverse is apparently set in near-future Earth (or at least, some version of it!). The story takes the reader through dizzying sequence of trips to "picoverses", universes that are smaller then the size of our solar system and not viable on their own, and hints at still larger universes which are inaccessible to us. Apparently relatively strongly based in theoretical physics, this story definitely falls into the category of hard sci-fi. The cast of characters includes a beautiful at brilliant female scientist out to prove a "girl" can do anything the men can do, an unfeeling and egotistical ex-husband/boss, a genius six-year-old with serious social problems, an unexpectedly brilliant government employee, a beautiful but deadly woman/machine from another universe out to destroy whatever she needs to to escape this one, and various card- board "extras" who conveniently get their heads blown off to provide dramatic tension, as well as surprising guest appearances by some of history's most renowned physicists. Although the interpersonal relationships in this book lack some originality, the main plotline is unique and the book is a page-turner.
