Series: Maureen O'Donnell # 3

Maureen ODonnell returns in this final entry in Mina's trilogy. The man who murdered her lover is coming to trial, and she will be called as a witness. His harassment of her is continuing, as from behind bars he finds someone willing to send her anonymous pornographic letters and photographs.

Her complicated relationships with her parents are oh so gradually sorted out in this book, and we observe her planning some horrific acts of revenge for remembered cruelties from her childhood. When the moment of truth arrives, there is a startling twist in the plot which brings the reader a measure of relief mixed with unease.

Self awareness and decisions for self preservation also make ever more frequent appearances in the chain of events, and all the many good things I had been wishing for Maureen appear in tiny doses, one by one as she, her friends Vik and Leslie, and her brother Liam begin to sort things out.

Still on the dark side of the genre, and not all evil is revenged but the title says it all - Maureen finds resolution here.

Mina is one of the best authors of suspense fiction working today. Highly recommended!
