When Julie Zegler arrived at her exclusive bridal boutique on Union Square, the one thing she had on her mind was the $6000 wedding dress due to be picked up in two hours. What she found, on the other hand, was that very dress . . . in her store window . . . on the body of a dead woman . . . covered in blood.
Homicide Detective Walt Sydowski heads the investigation for SFPD. Ben Wyatt is a homicide detective assigned to the investigation too; but Walt wants no part of him. San Francisco Star reporter Tom Reed is assigned to the story by an editor determined to fire him. It's not long before the killer strikes again. And again. All of his victims are shy, lonely females desperately seeking a chance at love before time passes them by and San Francisco is in shock.
Rick Mofina pens a taut thriller. This is the kind of book that grabs you and makes you hang on for the ride! His characterizations will grab you. His people are real - with real problems, real prejudices, and make real mistakes that have consequences for others. I'm impressed enough that I'm going out to fill in with Rick's backlist and I'm delighted to add another favorite to my list.
