The third installment of Morgan’s Jeff Talbot series, THE MARRIAGE CASKET, brings with it a familiarity of an on going series. It is like talking with old friends. And friends like this make life interesting.
As Jeff continues his work as an antique picker he is also dealing with the after math of events from the previous book, events which left his wife Sheila’s agoraphobia worse than ever. In fact she won’t leave the upper floor of their home. Thrown into the mix is a mysterious death. Jeff has bought the contents of an old home from the only living relative of the woman who owned it. While going through his new antiques he discovers that her death might not have been accidental. In the course of the investigation the woman’s nephew is accused and the house closed up for the duration. Naturally it is in Jeff’s best interest to clear the nephew so he can regain possession of his new purchases. However, Jeff also happens to believe the nephew is innocent.
The characters in this book are what make reading it such a joy. Add a tight plot and a clever mystery and you’ve got a great book to look forward to. As Long as Deborah Morgan keeps writing, I plan to keep reading her books.
