Cyanide Wells is the setting for this novel with a gold-mining history, the town derived it’s name from miner’s using cyanide to refine ore and the time the area’s water supply was tragically poisoned with the cyanide.

Mathew Lindstrom is the lead character in this novel. He is drawn to this town by a mysterious phone call informing him that his ex-wife, Gwen, who disappeared fourteen years earlier and left him with the suspicion of murder hanging over his head, is now living there and has been for years. Mathew travels to Cyanide Wells to obtain proof that Gwen is alive to clear his name and confront her. Before this can happen Gwen suddenly vanishes again. He joins forces with Carly McGuire, a woman who owns the local newspaper, to try to find Gwen after this latest disappearance. At the time of her disappearance, Gwen was working on a book about the tragic murders of two local gay men that plays prominently in the storyline.

I truly enjoyed the characters in Cyanide Wells and the background information on the town. It was a quick read that kept you quite interested as new secrets kept popping up as the pages turned.
