“You’ve come a long way, baby!” Marcia Muller’s newest Sharon McCone mystery finds that my favorite female P.I. has come a very long way since those early hungry days as a struggling private investigator for the All Souls co-op. McCone Investigations has been growing by leaps and bounds and is still expanding. It has moved into fabulous new offices on Pier 24 ½ and her professional life just can’t get any better as far as the business’s fiercely independent owner is concerned - that is, until one of her operatives is arrested and charges are filed that threaten the very existence of McCone Investigations.

Marcia Muller is in top form with this latest Sharon McCone mystery - giving the readers just enough misinformation to keep them guessing and sharing bits and pieces of all of Shar’s varied interpersonal relationships so the reader has a vested interest in the book’s outcome. I’m very satisfied with the direction Shar’s life is taking and can hardly wait for the next installment of her story!
