Six years ago in Split Creek, Texas, an unknown assailant killed Sandy Powers, fiancee of the current Police Chief Jared Morgan. The murderer was never apprehended. Now, a message on the local high school wall announces that the killer is back. Is it simply a student prank or has the criminal returned to claim another victim?

Automobile mechanic Michaele Ramey feels trapped by an abusive drunk of a father Buck and an egocentric younger sister Faith. However, Michaele panics when Faith turns up missing. Jared begins a manhunt while worrying that the killer has truly returned. Adding to his concern is his love for Michaele. Though she loves the police chief, she will never even go for coffee with him because relationships turn sour and no one should be stuck with her dysfunctional family. As Jared tries to keep Michaele safe, will he finally crack the moat and wall that hides her heart from him?

LOST is a fabulous romantic suspense with the emphasis on suspense. The thrilling story line never eases on the throttle as two major subplots tie back into the prime tale. The lead characters are a charming duo and many readers will empathize with Michaele's plight. With novels like this one, COME SUNDOWN and MORE THAN YOU KNOW, Helen R. Myers deservedly becoming a fan favorite.
