Intelligent, very funny, thoughtful, at times gross and unsavory, this story drops you down into a bit of London tourists are not likely to see. Tommy Akhtar is a private eye of Ugandan-Indian descent . His apartment and office are above a cab company run by his brother with whom he doesn't get along. When a hooker offers him big money to find her missing roommate, he manages to do so quickly, but realizes there is more to this case than meets the eye. His curiosity leads him into a dangerous underground plot that involves intelligence types and terrorist plots, and nearly costs his life.

This is told with overmuch use of Brit slang, sometimes a bit hard to decipher for us Yanks. There are a lot of cricket references which fans will enjoy. Being clueless I just skimmed those bits, which didn't detract from the story for me. I loved his original turns of phrase, such as "up the axiomatic without the proverbial". This is an author from whom you can expect the unexpected.
