Annie Seymour is a crime reporter for the New Haven Herald with an attitude but it is an attitude that is fun and made me like the character very much.

A beautiful young girl has fell or been pushed to her death and Annie is called in the middle of the night to cover the story. Annie's current boy friend, Tom, is at the scene but instead of passing out information he is encouraging Annie to go home. A new reporter, Dick Whitfield, who seems to be following her on every case further irritates Annie and Annie is not the most patient person.

When Annie finally begins to get some information on the girl she finds that not only is the girl a Yale student by day but also she is a high priced escort at night.

As the case progresses the mystery deepens even more and stretches so far as to include Annie’s mother who is a highly respected attorney.

Vinny DeLucia is from Annie’s neighborhood and is now a sexy looking private detective. Vinny seems to be checking all the sources that Annie is checking out. When Annie steps on one toe too many she is forced to cover the story on the fiberglass cows currently being placed throughout the city.

Sacred Cows is a good read and very entertaining. I purchased this book after I was hooked when I read Secondhand Smoke, Karen E. Olson’s second Annie Seymour novel.
