The Painted Lady is a tattoo shop in Las Vegas. Brett Kavanaugh is the owner and proud of the fact. Brett moved to Vegas from New Jersey and is currently living with her brother Tim who is a police officer. Brett is tall, redheaded and sports a number of tattoos. As you can imagine, she doesn’t lack for attention.

When a girl named Kelly Masters comes into the shop and requests a “devotion tattoo” of her fiancé’ Matthew’s name it is a surprise. Kelly just doesn’t seem like the type to get a tattoo but Brett makes up a design and Kelly agrees to return the next day.

Brett finds out a lot more about Kelly but not because she returned to the shop. Brett hears about her on the news. It seems her name is not really Kelly and she has disappeared. As far as anyone knows, the last place the woman was seen was at The Painted Lady.

Brett pumps her brother as much as possible but since he is not very forthcoming, she decides to investigate on her own. The investigation proves to be dangerous and Brett has many narrow escapes.

The Missing Ink introduces a number of characters that add a completely new dimension to the story. This is the first step in a promising new series.
