Detective Lindsay Boxer is called away from a meeting of the Women’s Murder Club by her partner who has a location on a vehicle previously reported to be in the vicinity of a murder scene. The vehicle attempts to outrun the police car. At the conclusion of the chase Lindsay is forced to shoot one of the occupants of the vehicle. The occupant happens to be a young girl and the girl’s family sues Lindsay. Her whole career hangs on the decision of the jury.

Lindsay escapes to her sister’s home in Half Moon Bay pending the trial but she can’t seem to get away from police work. A killer is on the loose in Half Moon Bay and the police are at a dead end. The killings remind Lindsay of a case that she investigated at the beginning of her career as a policewoman. The fact that the case is still unsolved peaks Lindsay’s interest and she begins an investigation of her own.

Since a big part of the story takes place in Half Moon Bay there aren’t too many meetings of the Murder Club in this the fourth book in the series. James Patterson was joined by Andrew Gross in the 2nd and 3rd book of the series and now he is joined by Maxine Paetro in the writing of this 4th book.

I enjoyed the book and will be sure and pick up the next installment of the Women’s Murder Club. The conclusion of the book brings a new member to the Club but you will have to read the book to discover her identity.
