Although this was my first Lou Boldt mystery, I had heard nothing but good things about the previous books in the series. I was not let down at all with The Body of David Hayes. David Hayes is a computer whiz that has just been released from prison for embezzling seventeen million dollars from the bank where Lou’s wife works. Apparently, earlier in the series, during a rough time in the Boldt marriage, Liz had an affair with David right before the embezzlement.

Now the seventeen million is sitting out in cyberspace and only David Hayes knows how to retrieve it. The police want it, the Russian mob want it and Lou Boldt needs David Hayes and the money to save his wife and family since Liz is David’s only hope of being able to get access to the bank’s computers to get to the money.

I truly enjoyed this story and the characters and found the book to be quite the page turner. Throughout the book you weren’t sure exactly who the good guys or the bad guys were including other police officers. I look forward to going back and reading the rest of the series from the start.
