Detective Lou Boldt finds himself on a case that brings back memories that he has tried to place in the past. Lou’s wife Liz had an affair with a young computer specialist at the bank where she is an officer. This happened years ago and Lou and Liz have tried to put the past behind them and look to the future. But now David Hayes, the computer specialist, who embezzled a large sum of money from the bank where Liz works is back on the scene and looks to Liz for help in recovering the money he embezzled and hid in the computer files at the bank.
Danny Foreman, an officer of the law, and an old friend of the family becomes so involved that Lou begins to suspect him of also trying to recover the money. The money was money David hid for the Russian mob and they are also determined to recover the money.
Lou devises a scheme with the help of some officer friends to recover the money and at the same time protect his wife and family. The scheme is very complicated and only perfect timing can carry it off.
I enjoyed this book and intend to read more of the Ridley Pearson novels in the near future.
