Jack Till is a Californian PI, an ex-cop. Six years earlier, he had helped a woman disappear, teaching her how to create a new ID and to avoid anyone attempting to trace her. Now another person is about to go on trial for her murder. The only way to save him is to bring her out of hiding. Finding her won¹t be easy.

Thomas Perry¹s strong point as a writer is creating interesting characters with their own psychological needs. Where he breaks down is in the week justification for some of the actions taken here, and in a less than strong ending. But on the whole if the reader can manage the willing suspension of disbelief, he will be in for a fast paced ride.
