Wendy Harper is young and successful. She is part owner of Banque a restaurant that is really making a name for itself. Eric Fuller is the chef and Wendy’s partner. They had been lovers and almost got married but decided that it wouldn’t work out for them but they remained friends.

When Wendy leaves the restaurant one night she is attacked as she starts to open her front door. The attacker leaves her for dead. When she recovers enough she contacts Jack Till, former police officer and now private investigator. She hires Jack to show her how to disappear. She won’t admit that she might be able to give the police some leads. The only thing she knows is that she wants to disappear.

Six years later Eric Fuller is arrested for Wendy’s murder. He has continued to run the restaurant and has collected on Wendy’s insurance policy as well as now being the sole owner of the house he owned jointly with Wendy. New evidence has come to light to cause the police to charge Eric.

Only Jack Till knows that Wendy is still alive and that Eric did not murder her. Jack sets out to find Wendy and bring her back to clear Eric.

This is easier said than done. Wendy has covered her tracks well and the trail has long gone cold.

Paul and Sylvia Porter have been hired to find Wendy and kill her. Paul and Sylvia are killers for hire and as cold-blooded as they come.

Thomas Perry has written a book full of suspense with never a dull moment. This is just the book for someone that wants an exciting read.
