Death Angel is the story of Kate and Richard Warner, who live a relatively normal life in Pickard, a small town not far from Chicago. One day their world is turned totally upside down when their eight year old daughter, Jenny is raped, murdered and left in the forest.
Kate in engulfed with grief as is her husband, however things only get worse when the chief of police focuses on Richard as the main suspect in the murder of Jenny. Kate refuses to believe there is anyway Richard could have killed Jenny, however she does know he is lying about something.
Kate refuses to be totally forthcoming with the police about things she knows as she fears it will only make her husband look more suspicious. Things get worse when a jogger is found dead and his death is connected to Jenny's. Soon friends and neighbors that were very supportive when Jenny was first found start to dwindle. Then Richard disappears, an assumed suicide and the task force to find the killer is shut down since they have no leads and Richard is assumed to be the killer of both his daughter and the joggers.
At this point, Kate does confide some of her knowledge that she has withheld from the police as she wants the real killer found but also starts an investigation of her own which could make her the killer's next target if he is still alive and on the loose.
I had trouble beginning this book as I am not fond of books with children killed in them. However I was hooked from the beginning and was glad I finished Death Angel. It is a real page turner and I finished it in one day and would highly recommend to all mystery lovers. The ending was quite a twist.
