Werewolves do not exist except in our imagination. However, human monsters live. These creatures appear human until their primal lust rises to a pitch that requires them to maim and mutilate. During this instinctive period, these so-called humanoids turn into deadly, stalking predators. This animalistic group included the renowned psychiatrist Dr. John Cray, manager of the Hawk Ridge Mental Institution.
For the past dozen years Kaylie MacMillan has been on the run. Now, she finally returns to her home in Arizona determined to learn whether or not Cray is a serial killer. Kaylie is a former inmate of Hawk Ridge, whom the court ruled was too incompetent to stand trial for murdering her husband. Kaylie stalks Cray in an effort to obtain evidence that proves the doctor is a cold blooded killer. Though she succeeds in attaining her proof, the clever Clay turns the tables on her, leaving society to force Kaylie into being a patient of his.
STEALING FACES is one of the most frightening serial killer books of the past decade. The audience knows up front the inner most thoughts of Cray. Nothing short of sand blasting will cleanse the filth that the psychiatrist transmits to the reader. Kaylie is a strong heroine whose survival instinct against a resourceful and intelligent killing machine provides the counterpoint that turns Michael Prescott’s novel into must reading for sub-genre fans.
