Callie Parish has an interesting life as a cosmetologist in a mortuary. Her best friend from childhood is a blind woman, her family a redneck father and brothers. For fun she watches Six Feet Under and plays banjo. When Bobby Saxon dies, Callie, a lover of mystery stories, decides to play detective. Callie makes the usual dumb mistakes you tend to find in a cozy heroine.

Lots of sweet tea and bluegrass music give this a southern flavor. There is more than you might want to know about the mortuary business. The puh-leeze and buh-leeve me and ex-cuuze me bits tend to become tiresome. There is a bit of humor here but a disappointing ending.
