I always enjoy this historical series featuring a blind Jewish physician, Isaac of Girona, who lives in Barcelona and often works closely with the the local Catholic bishop to solve crimes or serve the crown. This one was partiucarly enjoyable because Isaac, his daughter and his apprentice Yusef travel to the kings court, become involved in political intrigue, war in Sardinia and other matters. The murder mystery is almost secondary to the adventure of traveling in this time with a variety of interesting characters. And there are some pleasant growth changes among the regulars in the series which makes on eager to revisit them in the next book.
