Andy Combs is an ex-policeman turned investigator. Andy had been hired to find information leading to the arrest of the person who murdered movie director Hector Corazon. While chasing the person he suspected of the murder he finds that person to actually be an agent for the FBI working with an agent for the CIA. They involve Andy in a search for a defensive weapon called the Z-100. Although Andy decides to work alone he does begin a search for the Z-100.

This search leads him to Zachary Pikus the inventor who is now hiding out in Florida. With information given to him by Pikus he begins his search and winds up with a variety of strange people including fake spiritualists and UFO-chasers.

I know this book is fiction but Andy is able to somehow come up with unlimited funds to buy or rent cars, motel rooms or whatever he needs as he travels from place to place. He is searched in a number of places but the source of his funds is not revealed in the searches. He always appears to have nothing. People are injured and even killed either by him or people who he is currently associating with but no one ever gets arrested.

This is just not my type of book.
