Kate Stanley is realizing a dream come true. She is directing Shakespeare [Hamlet
no less] at the Globe Theatre in London. As a young woman, and an American, that
is no mean feat. But in the middle of rehearsals, her old academic mentor appears
with a cryptic quote from Shakespeare's Ophelia and a gift she wants Kate to have.
But Kate wants no part of anything that will take her away from her directorship.

Then, Roz is murdered and the Globe is burned down once more - on the exact anniversary of its first demise. When Detective Chief Inspector Francis Sinclair comes looking for answers to both the murder and the fire, Kate opens the gift and starts on one of the strangest treasure hunts of all time.

I'm no kind of Shakespeare scholar - so someone else will have to note the Shakespearian details and how correct they might be. However, a well-crafted story is always enjoyable and this one fulfills that requirement. I'm generally not a big reader of historical mysteries - but this is a combination of history shared with today that can keep your head spinning trying to keep track of timelines and even who really are the bad guys and the good guys. Well done, Ms. Carrell!
