John Sandford has another hero and a novel way of keeping you turning pages. His new “Dead Watch” is like a diary of political intrigue and politically-powered murder. The activity covers most of the Eastern seaboard and is so fast-paced you sometimes have to retreat and regroup to figure out where everyone is.

Jake Winters is the “fix-it” man for the party in power at the White House. He is ordered to find why ex-Senator Lincoln Bowe disappeared and why he was murdered(???) His investigation has a trail of bodies, shots in the night, strange muggings and steamy sex. Definitely not a book to leave on the end table.
