Talk show host, psychologist, and former Navy SEAL, Mick Callahan, had it all until his drinking and whopper-sized ego brought him down resulting in the death of an abused woman. Now, he is a recovering alcoholic on a mission to get his life back on track which leads him to his home town of Dry Wells, Neveda.

During his broadcast, a young, troubled teen calls him asking for help. Unfortunately this young lady, the daughter of the richest man in Dry Wells, turns up dead and Mick was one of the last person's to talk to her which happens close on the heals of Mick's discovering a body without any identification.. The local sheriff asks Mick to hightail it out of town and to forget about what he discovered putting a shadow on the local law enforcement's involvement.

Reminding him of his failure with another woman caller who asked for help, Mick decides to investigate her death. Jerry, a computer hacker friend and manager of the dumpy motel that Mick is living in, wants Mick to help him with a new girlfriend that Jerry seems to think is in major trouble from a group of thugs.

Well developed plot, fast paced and likeable cast of heroes, Memorial Day makes a very enjoyable read. I sure hope Harry Shannon consideres making Mick Callahan into a series.
