To help out a friend sidelined by an accident, Charlie Parker and Drake Langston agree to fly the friends helicopters and shuttle men and equipment from a base in Scotland out to the North Sea oil rigs. In Scotland, they take up temporary residence at Dunworthy Castle, slowly becoming acquainted with their neighbors and the owners.

When the owner of the castle discovers that Charlie is an investigator as well as a helicopter pilot, he begs her to investigate lambs missing from his estate. When the man's grandson disappears, and ransom demands are made, Charlie wants out, but is entangled anyway.

VERY interesting - both for the characterization of Charlie Parker and the glimpse of Scotland. This is my first Charlie Parker novel and now that I've found them, it won't be the last. Well written and plotted, Connie Shelton has a series that normally takes place in New Mexico; but as this book proves, has a wealth of possibilities open to it.
