Series: Ana Grey # 2

This police procedural, featuring the second appearance of FBI Special Agent Ana Grey, moves quickly with many plot twists to keep the reader eagerly turning pages.

Ana's assignment is to find the kidnapper-rapist of a 15 year-old- girl with whom Ana has formed a close, compassionate relationship. Complicating Ana's mission is her involvement with Detective Andrew Berringer of the Santa Monica PD. They met while working on a bank robbery dubbed "Mission Impossible" due to the extreme diffficulty encountered in breaking the case. Ana and Andrew's relationship is complex, intense and violent. Ana ends up in jail on attempted murder charges and is suspended from her job with the FBI.

Ana does not let this interfere with stopping the rapist and solving the bank robbery mystery. Ana is clever and resourseful throughout the fast paced novel.

At times, the novel got bogged down in providing the back story of various relationships and events. This was not done as seamlessly as it could have been and this caused some confusion at times for this reader. However, this is a minor complaint. Highly recommended, 4 stars.
