Series: Serena Wilcox # 2

Thirty-year old Jack Miller is happily married with two children. His only complaints in life are that his beloved mother lays dying and his marriage has lost some of its spontaneity since the kids arrived. His spouse Elizabeth deeply loves her husband, but seems to perpetually be to tired to do much with him. She decides to buy her beloved a special birthday present. Elizabeth purchases time at Virtual Memories where Jack can relive any moment of his life.

Jack immensely enjoys the sessions, but soon becomes obsessed with them. He buys more time than he can afford. At the same time a woman, claiming to be Jack's wife, hires detective Selena Wilcox to trail Jack because she thinks he is cheating on her. Selena checks out her new client only to learn the individual is not Jack's spouse. Selena pursues the job anyway.

Jack enters a new fantasy session, but this time when it ends he continues to believe he is a CIA agent. He goes after someone he believes he has under surveillance, but the detective easily disarms him. Selena convinces Jack that something is wrong at Virtual Memories. He hires her to uncover the truth before someone is hurt or killed.

The second Selena Wilcox mystery is a light, witty, and delightful private detective tale. The main protagonist is so laid back, readers will check her pulse. Still, Selena seems to always have enough energy to do the job. The cleverly executed story line virtually seems to come from today's headlines. VIRTUAL MEMORIES by Natalie Burke Thomas is a classy reading experience that deserves the highest recommendations.
