After losing their young daughter, Chris and Caroline divorce. Caroline has remarried and now has two children. When she begins to hear voices and finds her dead daughterąs doll she panics, but friends think she is imagining things. Then people begin dying in violent ways.

Carlene Thompson can write well, but this story didnąt work for me. At times the book read almost like a cozy except that the crimes were way too violent. Yet it didnąt have the sense of building menace needed to make a thriller. It might have worked best as a psychological study but that didnąt happen. There was too much going on too quickly here to be a reasonable...or unreasonable...act of one person.

This is the first book by this author and has been followed by several others. If they are more focused, the crimes more realistic, then she should have a great future as an author. We can hope this happens.
