1997, warner books

I found this while book hunting and was intrigued by the jacket blurb. It promised suspense on a level with Le’Carre and Ellroy. The book has cops, and spies and a hip New York setting. The main character is Francis X. Byrne. And the plot revolves around a dossier on Lee Harvey Oswald. It really had all the markings of a fun enjoyable book.

But even though I was compelled to keep reading I was disappointed. The ending seemed forced, and looking back at what I had just read, it feels like this book had been floating around in Walsh’s head for a while, and he ended up putting every thing into one book. One book which if scaled back a bit could have maybe been the start of a good series. Just too many clichés in book for my taste.
