A new congressman, a happily married man, is at a party when he allows himself to be seduced by an attractive woman. He allows the affair to continue, and then the woman is killed.

What begins almost as a bodice-ripper becomes a convoluted murder mystery. As one character suggests, it could be a murder pyramid scheme. The question seems to be Œwhat would you be willing to do to cover your tracks?¹ Would you murder to cover an affair? Can one murder be used to force another by blackmail? Can anyone in this novel behave in a reasonable manner?

This first novel is written in a style that is derivative and dull. The plot is difficult to accept. And the characters make decisions that leave the reader groaning in disbelief. On a scale of 5 I would award this book a 1 1/2, only because he does know how to construct a sentence. If Warren could learn to write with honesty, there may be hope. Meanwhile, let¹s hope he keeps the day job.
