Della Carmichael is 47, widowed and lives with a friends daughter Eileen, and Tuffy, a black poodle. She runs a cooking school in Santa Monica and has just been offered a stint in her own cooking show on cable TV. However, the first show ends when the taster takes a bite of the unfortunately named Killer Mousse and dies. Della is a suspect even though she didnąt know the victim. When another woman connected to the cable station dies, police are looking even harder at her. Della, the police and a news reporter all team up to try to solve the puzzle before Della becomes the next victim.

Wells is a great new addition to the mystery scene. Her characters are complex and well developed. They can be fun, and the dialogue is often amusing. There are surprises enough to keep your interest. This is much better than the average cozy. All this and recipes too.
