Series: Doc Ford # 10

This is the 10th and latest addition to the Doc Ford/Tomlinson series. In this volume we find Doc Ford getting back to his roots in South Florida as a childhood friend seeks his help in finding out if her late husband may still be alive.

In the process he and his still the hippie side kick run afoul of a greedy religious cult leader and his plans. You have greedy developers, a struggling band of Seminole, an ex NYPD detective turned PI and an ex Israeli Mossad operative turned mercenary. Make for an interesting tale.

It also marks a turning point in the series INMHO. The author had been running with story lines from Doc Fords secret past as a super secret cold warrior. It was starting to be a repeatious. In this book he goes back to the simpler Doc Ford marine biologist helping out some friends in need while trying to distance himself from his past. Even the character has a look at himself in the mirror and decides to get back to his old self. At the same time Tomlinson is going through some maturing on his part.

For those of you who liked the early books in the series this will be a good read. It's not a bad stand alone.
