Series: Alan Gregory # 13

White is the author of a dozen books, many on the best seller list. He is known as a writer of thrillers or suspense fiction.

In Missing Persons, a young girl disappears on Christmas night in Boulder, just 9 years after another young daughter made news by going missing on the same night of the year. This time the police want to do a better job.

Although psychologist Alan Gregory vows to stay out of the search, circumstances place him in the middle. First, a social worker has died in an odd fashion. Then others disappear or die. Gregoryıs practice as a psychologist has touched most of these people in one way or another. The dilemma is to find a way to pass on knowledge that is confidential.

Gregory puts the reader right into the Colorado landscape. His characters come with complete family lives and all the complications that implies. The downside is that all this detail tends to overshadow the plot. The book becomes a very slow moving story with much repetition. The plot has weak points not helped by the lack of real suspense. Unfortunately, this is not the best of White's books.
