Tom Clone has spent 13 years on death row for a crime he denies committing. When the FBI discovers the murder weapon which has someone elsešs fingerprints and DNA, he is released. Not everyone, however, is happy to see him free.

Psychologist Alan Gregory begins treating Clone. Is Clone truly innocent? Strange things are happening in Boulder as others get caught up in the puzzle.

White gives a marvelous sense of place with his descriptions of Colorado. This novel is complex and intelligent, with thoughtful arguments regarding justice and the death penalty. The characters are well developed. What I didnšt like was the changing point of view along with the jumps in time from today to last night to a different point in the story.

If matters got a little extreme in the end it was still within the bounds of believability. I found it an enjoyable book.
