The Badger and the Gardener . . . continued.

Well, the little garden critter continues to dine at Chez Jordan. Hopes are
high that the Church Festival next door this weekend will drive him away.

Funny how the mind works. After a few days I am now able to see the situation with a sense of humor (sort of and I haven't been down this morning). My mom said I should write a story, a mystery even. Get this part, from the badger's point of view!! Like I want to get inside his mind. I refer to our Badger as him because if indeed it's a she, well there might be family.

Mom's suggestion and everyone's helpful hints on how to rid ourselves of the little varmint did however get my little grey cells to work a bit. From my point of view what kind of a mystery is this?

Is it hard boiled? Will the exterminator with the answer roll into the drive and rid the garden of the intruder, then leave with no moral quandary after collecting his two hundred a day?

Is it a well done modern mystery a la Minette Walters/ Denise Mina where before we deal with the little guy we must deal with the socio-economic issues and poor urban planning that led to the crime in the first place. By tearing up his environment for new roads in the first place aren't we as a society in fact responsible for his crimes? Don't we need to change the big picture to stop this crime from happening again?

Is it a a suspense building-vengeance-thriller? Should Jon and myself stake our claim and protect ourselves by whatever means. Tracking our potential victim until we've established his routine and then pull off an assassination so slick no one even knows it's happened?

No dear friends in the end this is a cozy. Say what you will about the genre but in almost any cozy they know where to find the arsenic. Gardens are not to be messed with. Miss Marple was a tough old broad and if it were her garden Daisy would have already rid St. Mary Mead of the animal or been fired. Miss Marple didn't have a lot of patience.

Okay so the whole thing has me a bit insane but there you go.... musings of a mad gardener
